2390 charsU.S. Department of the Treasury Sanctions Violent Far-Left Terrorist Networks and Supporters
On August 26, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated three entities and two individuals as supporters of violent far-left terrorism. The action targeted Autistici Inventati, an Italy-based organization providing digital infrastructure and services to Antifa cells and other violent extremists; Palestine Action, a United Kingdom-based organization proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK government in July 2025; and Masar Badil, a transnational organization operating as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. OFAC also designated two senior leaders of Masar Badil: Germany-based Zaid Abdulnasser and Brazil-based Rawa Alsagheer.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the designations reflect the United States' commitment to disrupting infrastructure enabling these groups to operate and coordinate violence across borders. The action was taken pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended, under counterterrorism authority. According to the 2026 U.S. Counterterrorism Strategy, violent far-left terrorist groups represent one of three major terrorist threats facing the United States. Autistici Inventati was designated for materially assisting terrorist organizations, including providing website hosting, encrypted email accounts, and digital architecture services. Palestine Action was designated for supporting acts of terrorism since July 2020, including attacks on UK military installations causing millions of dollars in damage. Masar Badil was designated for being controlled by the PFLP and sharing leadership, fundraising mechanisms, and senior members with the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, jointly sanctioned by Canada and the United States on October 15, 2024.
As a result of the designations, all property and interests in property of the designated persons in the United States or controlled by U.S. persons are blocked. U.S. persons are prohibited from conducting transactions involving designated persons unless authorized by OFAC. Violations may result in civil or criminal penalties. Foreign financial institutions engaging in significant transactions on behalf of designated persons risk secondary sanctions, including restrictions on maintaining correspondent or payable-through accounts in the United States.
