1538 charsTaiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission Opens Public Comment Period on Virtual Asset Anti-Money Laundering Regulations
On August 13, 2026, Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) announced a public consultation on draft amendments to Articles 7, 14, and 18 of the Regulations Governing Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism for Enterprises or Persons Providing Virtual Asset Services. The regulation was formerly titled "Regulations Governing Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism for Virtual Asset Service Providers."
The FSC is seeking public feedback on proposed modifications to these specific articles of the virtual asset anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) framework. The amendments form part of Taiwan's ongoing efforts to strengthen its regulatory oversight of the virtual asset sector and enhance compliance with international AML/CTF standards. Virtual asset service providers and other stakeholders in Taiwan's digital asset ecosystem are the primary entities affected by these regulatory changes.
The consultation period runs until September 14, 2026. Interested parties can submit comments through multiple channels: by telephone at +886 (2) 2392-4146, by facsimile at +886 (2) 2356-9970, or by email to [email protected]. Written submissions can also be mailed to the FSC at 6F, No. 2-2, Section 1, Jinan Road, Taipei City 10051, Taiwan. The FSC will review all feedback received during the comment period before finalising the amendments.
