The aim of the law is to establish a framework for the supervision of AI systems to ensure a high level of protection of health, safety and fundamental rights when using such systems, while also supporting innovation, through the adoption of measures under domestic law to transpose into national law Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act).
The bill designates the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) as the competent market surveillance authority and the single point of contact. The bill also aims to establish the Coordination and Expertise Centre for AI within the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission, which will support the HDPA and other competent market surveillance authorities.
