980 charsTurkey Publishes Amendments to Regulations on Advertising and Unfair Practices
On July 1, 2026, amendments to the Regulations on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices were published in the official gazette.
Key amendments include:
If artificial intelligence or other software is used in advertisements in a way that will significantly affect the economic behaviour of consumers regarding a good or service, or if digital characters that are indistinguishable from humans are used using artificial intelligence, this fact shall be stated in a clear, understandable and distinguishable way.
In cases where advertisements are made through social media, influencers must be clear, understandable and distinguishable. In such cases, it should be clearly stated that the content is an advertisement.
The content should be clearly indicated as an advertisement from the moment consumers first encounter it, without requiring them to scroll through the screen or redirect them to another area.
These amendments come into force on August 1, 2026.
