1776 charsFinancial Action Task Force Publishes Kuwait's Enhanced Follow-Up Report on Anti-Money Laundering Measures
In May 2026, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) published Kuwait's 2nd Enhanced Follow-Up Report, which assesses the country's progress in addressing technical compliance deficiencies identified in its 2024 mutual evaluation report. The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) adopted the report.
The enhanced follow-up report analyses Kuwait's implementation of measures to strengthen its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) framework. The assessment evaluates Kuwait's compliance with the FATF Recommendations, which form the international standard for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of proliferation. The report provides updated technical compliance re-ratings across the FATF's 40 Recommendations and related effectiveness criteria, reflecting Kuwait's efforts to close gaps identified during the previous mutual evaluation.
Enhanced follow-up reports serve as peer review mechanisms within the FATF's ongoing assessment process. They enable member jurisdictions to demonstrate progress in implementing required AML/CTF controls and institutional reforms. The ratings generated through this process are consolidated into the FATF's Global Network Consolidated Ratings table, which tracks compliance across all assessed jurisdictions.
The report is available for download from the FATF website in PDF format. Kuwait's updated ratings and detailed findings can be accessed through the consolidated assessment ratings database. This follow-up process reflects Kuwait's commitment to strengthening its financial system's resilience against money laundering and terrorist financing risks, consistent with international standards established by the FATF and its regional network.
