On August 13, 2026, Brazil's Ministry of Finance suspended the federal license of Pixbet Soluções Tecnológicas through a precautionary measure issued by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA). The SPA cited two primary reasons for the suspension: the absence of mechanisms to monitor compulsive gamblers and the company's failure to submit mandatory documents required under federal regulations.
The SPA stated that the action aims to "ensure the safety of bettors and the regulated betting market until effective mechanisms for controlling, evaluating, and monitoring bettors, within the scope of responsible gambling policies, are implemented and proven." Pixbet holds approximately 2 percent of the national sports betting market, placing it among the 15 largest operators in Brazil. The company is controlled by cousins Ernildo Junior de Farias Santos and Diomar Tadeu Dantas de Farias, whose conglomerate also operates brands including Ganhei.bet, Bet da Sorte, Donald.Bet, and BetpontoBet, collectively holding close to 4 percent of the total market.
The federal suspension does not prevent Pixbet from continuing operations in Rio de Janeiro and Paraná, where it holds local licenses. However, the company faces a daily fine of R$200 if it fails to comply with the measure. The SPA determined that any bets in progress must be cancelled, with wagered amounts returned immediately to bettors. The platform may remain online exclusively for registered players to withdraw available balances. Pixbet has ten business days from August 13 to appeal the suspension. The suspension is separate from a concurrent Federal Police investigation into Pixbet regarding suspected money laundering involving crypto assets and offshore companies.
