TITLE: FINRA Announces 2026 Broker-Dealer and Investment Adviser Renewal Fees and Deadlines BODY: On October 30, 2025, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) published Regulatory Notice 25-14, outlining the renewal program for broker-dealer (BD) and investment adviser (IA) registrations, agents, investment adviser representatives, and branches for 2026. FINRA's Renewal Program collects and disburses fees for BD and IA registrations, exempt reporting, and notice filings with participating self-regulatory organizations (SROs) and jurisdictions. The program operates through two key statements: a Preliminary Statement issued in November 2025 outlining initial renewal fees, and a Final Statement issued in January 2026 confirming or reconciling actual fees due after January 1, 2026. Both statements cover all renewal fees for firms, branches, and individuals. Beginning with the 2026 renewal program, FINRA is adopting a tiered fee structure for the Annual System Processing fee, assessed based on the number of securities regulators with which each individual is registered, excluding investment adviser representative registrations. Additionally, the existing tiered Annual Branch Renewal Registration Fees will change. Full payment by the Preliminary Statement deadline of December 8, 2025, is mandatory. Late payments incur fees and may result in business ineligibility in certain jurisdictions. Key dates include: Preliminary Statements available November 10, 2025; recommended deadline for electronic payments December 3, 2025; payment deadline December 8, 2025; year-end system shutdown December 26, 2025; Final Statements available January 2, 2026; and final payment deadline January 23, 2026. Firms can submit post-dated termination filings before Preliminary Statements are published to eliminate fees for registrations not needed in 2026. Payment options include E-Bill, wire transfer, and check. Firms should download and save renewal reports when Preliminary Statements become available, as these reports will be replaced on January 2, 2026, and cannot be recreated.
