TITLE: Arkansas Securities Department Alerts Consumers to Bitcoin Depot Bankruptcy and Compensation Eligibility
BODY:
On July 7, 2026, the Arkansas Securities Department announced that Bitcoin Depot Operating LLC, which operated cryptocurrency kiosks nationwide, has filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and ceased operations. Arkansas consumers who previously used Bitcoin Depot services may be eligible to seek compensation for outstanding funds.
Bitcoin Depot held a money transmission license with the Arkansas Securities Department and operated in 33 states, including Arkansas. The company's physical kiosks allowed consumers to purchase cryptocurrency using cash or debit cards, transferring the digital currency to a wallet or address provided by the user. In the past year, Bitcoin Depot processed at least 2,341 individual transactions in Arkansas across at least 92 machines. The Securities Department identified 19 consumers owed a total of $33,312 in refunds, ranging from $382 to $7,500, who will be contacted directly. However, the department is alerting the public to ensure any other Arkansas consumer who previously used the service is aware of the bankruptcy filing and potential compensation eligibility.
Arkansas Securities Commissioner Susannah T. Marshall noted that the state's protections for cryptocurrency kiosk users have strengthened following the passage of Act 557 of 2025 by the Arkansas General Assembly, which placed necessary restrictions on cryptocurrency kiosks. The Securities Department will continue overseeing these protections.
Arkansas consumers with claims against Bitcoin Depot may file a claim in the bankruptcy case by calling the restructuring hotline at (844) 339-4117 (toll-free US/Canada) or +1 (332) 232-7827 (international), or emailing [email protected].
