The decree sets differentiated redemption periods depending on the game type. For instant lotteries with monetary prizes, winners must claim their winnings within one year from the end of the ticket sales period noted on the ticket, or within one year from when the draw result is finalised for supplementary draws. Electronic instant lotteries require redemption within one year from the date of purchase. Gaming machine games, casino games, electronic gaming machine games, electronic casino games, and electronic bingo games all operate under a three-month redemption window from when the winning game result is achieved. Combination games allow a one-year redemption period from when the winning result is achieved. These timeframes apply to all money game operators and players in Finland and establish uniform consumer protections by ensuring winners have clear, predictable deadlines for claiming prizes. The standardised approach reduces administrative ambiguity and provides operators with consistent compliance requirements across different game categories. The decree is scheduled to enter into force on July 1, 2027.
