TITLE: Finland's Ministry of The Interior Establishes Prize Redemption Deadlines for Gambling Games BODY: Finland's Ministry of The Interior has drafted a decree establishing redemption deadlines for gambling winnings under Section 50(6) of the Gambling Act (10/2026). The decree specifies different redemption periods depending on the type of gambling activity. For lottery-based games, the ministry establishes a one-year redemption period from the end of the ticket sale date for physical lottery tickets, and from the draw result date for lottery add-on prizes. Electronic lottery tickets must be redeemed within one year from the purchase date. Gambling machine winnings, casino game winnings, electronic gambling machine winnings, electronic casino winnings, and electronic bingo winnings all require redemption within three months from the date the winning result is achieved. Combined game winnings must be redeemed within one year from the date the winning result is achieved. These redemption deadlines establish clear timeframes for players to claim their winnings across all regulated gambling formats in Finland, providing certainty for both operators and players regarding the validity period of winning tickets and accounts. The decree applies to all gambling operators and venues offering these game types within Finland's regulated market. The decree enters into force on July 1, 2027. The regulation was signed by Mari Rantanen, Finland's Minister of The Interior, and Jukka Tukia, a negotiating official at the ministry.
