TITLE: Ukraine Introduces New Sanctions Packages in Synchronization with European Union Decisions BODY: On May 30, 2026, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed two decrees enacting decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to synchronize sanctions with those adopted by the European Union. The synchronization covers the EU's 20th sanctions package, which targets 120 individuals and entities across key sectors of the Russian economy. Ukraine's action introduces additional restrictions on 16 Russian citizens and 31 companies registered in Russia, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories. The targeted individuals include executives of Russian strategic enterprises, public institutions, and units of the Russian military, as well as persons serving Russian interests in occupied Ukrainian territories. The sanctioned entities comprise enterprises within the Russian military-industrial complex, manufacturers of electronic warfare systems, drone software and components, and companies engaged in oil, gas, and gold extraction. Specific companies targeted include Atlant Aero LLC, a Russian aerospace products and drone components manufacturer, and Irz-Svyaz LLC, which produces communication systems and components for unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. Sanctions also apply to companies from the UAE selling machine tools, laboratory equipment, chemical products, and aircraft spare parts, alongside a Belarusian oil exporter. Ukraine additionally imposed restrictive measures on three Russian individuals: prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina, judge Dmitry Gordeev, and editor Maria Sittel, all accused of involvement in repression, human rights violations, and disinformation. The sanctions package extends to 19 Iranian nationals, seven Sudanese nationals, and 11 Iranian companies involved in Iran's ballistic missile and drone production programs. Advisor Vladyslav Vlasiuk said Ukraine expects further pressure on Russia and its supporters, noting that joint work on the EU's 21st sanctions package is underway.
