TITLE: Italy's Customs and Monopolies Agency Closes Seven Instant Lottery Games With Remote Participation
BODY:
On May 8, 2026, Italy's Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (Customs and Monopolies Agency) issued a directorial determination closing seven instant extraction lottery games with remote participation. The closure affects the following lotteries: Top 500 Light, Top 10,000, Top 20,000, L'Oro delle Stelle 5€, Nuovo 20X LIT, Nuovo 50X LIT, and Nuovo 100X LIT, along with their associated gaming interfaces.
The closure decision was proposed by Lotterie Nazionali S.r.l., the concessionaire responsible for managing Italy's national instant lotteries, in a note dated February 5, 2026. The concessionaire sought to optimise its product portfolio by eliminating older lotteries and those being replaced by new and comparable products. The agency determined that the actual payout rates for these lotteries were substantially in line with theoretical rates, considering the number of plays distributed relative to total plays generated. The agency accepted the concessionaire's closure request based on these findings and the planned introduction of replacement products.
The closure takes effect from the date of publication on the agency's institutional website. Players holding winning tickets for amounts exceeding €10,000 must submit payment requests within 45 days from the publication date. Payments can be requested at Lotterie Nazionali S.r.l.'s Prize Office located at Viale del Campo Boario 56/d in Rome, or at branches of Intesa Sanpaolo, the current treasury bank for Lotterie Nazionali S.r.l., by presenting a printed summary from the game collection website displaying the identifying data of the play. The determination will be published on the agency's website, the concessionaire's website, and on remote sales point websites.
