TITLE: European Union's Anti-Money Laundering Authority Publishes Reporting Package for Direct Supervision Selection BODY: On May 12, 2026, the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) published a reporting package for the identification of provisionally eligible obliged entities. This marks a key preparatory step toward the first selection cycle for entities that will come under AMLA's direct supervision from 2028. The reporting package consists of a standardised reporting template and an interpretative note providing specifications and instructions to assist national supervisors and obliged entities in meeting reporting requirements accurately. National supervisors are responsible for organising data collection from obliged entities within their supervisory remit and will inform them of practical arrangements. The package sets out reporting instructions for national supervisors to use in identifying which entities meet the criteria for inclusion in the 2027 selection for direct supervision. This follows the completion of a data collection exercise to test and calibrate AMLA's risk assessment models. The reporting package applies to all obliged entities within the scope of AMLA's direct supervision framework across the European Union. AMLA will host a public webinar on June 10, 2026, offering a practical walkthrough of the template, with relevant obliged entities invited to participate. National supervisors must collect data by August 15, 2026, followed by an error correction and alignment phase in coordination with home supervisors. The provisional list of eligible obliged entities is expected to be finalised by the end of September 2026. The standardised reporting template and interpretative note are available on AMLA's website.
