Unregulated gaming sites operate outside Ontario's regulatory framework, offering no guaranteed player protections, information security safeguards, game integrity assurance, or responsible gaming measures. Such sites increase risks of player harm and criminal activity, including money laundering and match-fixing.
Ontario's regulated iGaming market requires operators to implement strong consumer protections and comply with enforceable standards. The AGCO actively monitors the market to identify regulated entities supplying the unregulated sector and works to disrupt unregulated gaming operations and their supply chains. Following notification from AGCO investigators, both Relax Gaming and Arrise Solutions cooperated fully with the investigation and took prompt action to restrict access to their games by Ontario players on unregulated sites.
Dr. Karin Schnarr, AGCO Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, stated that unregulated gaming sites expose players to real harm by operating outside Ontario's regulatory framework, offering no assurance of fair games, timely withdrawals, or meaningful dispute resolution.
