TITLE: Washington State Gambling Commission Convenes Meeting to Address Rule Making Proceedings

On April 9, 2026, the Washington State Gambling Commission held a public meeting chaired by Alicia Levy, Chair, at the Liquor and Cannabis Board in Olympia, Washington. The meeting was accessible virtually via Microsoft Teams and by telephone, in addition to in-person attendance.
The Commission's agenda included several administrative and rule-making items. The consent agenda covered approval of March 12, 2026 meeting minutes, new licenses, Class III gaming employee matters, and a Director's Report presented by Tina Griffin, Executive Director. Legislative Manager Tricia Gullion delivered a presentation on the rule-making process under the Administrative Procedure Act.
Two substantive rule-making actions were considered. The first petition sought to increase the threshold for verifying certain card game winning hands. The second staff request addressed increasing the threshold for surveillance retention requirements of jackpots. Both items were presented by Tricia Gullion, Legislative Manager.
The Commission accepted public comment through multiple channels: written submissions sent to askus@wsgc.wa.gov by 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time the day prior to the meeting; in-person comments provided at the meeting; and virtual comments submitted via email by the same deadline. Commenters were required to specify which agenda item their remarks addressed.
