TITLE: Argentina's Financial Information Unit Updates Penalty Module Value BODY: On June 19, 2025, Argentina's Financial Information Unit (Unidad de Información Financiera — UIF) issued Resolution 95/2025, updating the monetary module used to calculate administrative penalties under anti-money laundering legislation. The UIF, which operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice, adjusted the penalty module value from ARS 40,000 to ARS 54,140. This update reflects a 35.35 percent increase, calculated using the average passive interest rate set by Argentina's Central Bank (Banco Central de la República Argentina) from March 15, 2024 (when Law 27.739 was enacted) through March 15, 2025. Under Law 25.246 and its amendments, the UIF is authorised to review and update the module value annually during each budget cycle. The module serves as the basis for calculating fines imposed on obligated subjects that fail to comply with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing obligations. Article 25 bis of Law 25.246 specifies that unpaid fines accrue compensatory interest equivalent to the Central Bank's passive interest rate.
