TITLE: Latvia's Gambling and Lottery Supervision Inspectorate Liquidated and Integrated into State Revenue Service BODY: On March 27, 2026, Latvia's government announced the liquidation of the Gambling and Lottery Supervision Inspectorate (Izložu un azartspēļu uzraudzības inspekcija), following a Cabinet of Ministers decree issued on October 3, 2025 (No. 630). The inspectorate is being integrated as a sub-structure into the State Revenue Service (Valsts ieņēmumu dienests, VID). From April 1, 2026, gambling and lottery sector regulation is administered by two divisions within VID's Non-Financial Sector Supervision Department: the Gambling and Lottery Supervision Division, which handles licensing, compliance, and legal matters; and the Gambling and Lottery Control Division, which oversees land-based operations, remote gambling, technical matters, and financial controls. The sector's supervision and control operations are based at VID's office at Talejas Street 1, Riga. Inquiries can be directed to telephone 67504955 or email pasts@vid.gov.lv. Individuals wishing to register in the Self-Excluded Persons Register to exclude themselves from gambling and interactive lotteries may register remotely via the register at https://registrs.iaui.gov.lv/ using electronic identification through latvija.lv, available 24 hours daily. Written applications with identification documents can also be submitted at any VID Customer Service Centre or gambling venue throughout Latvia. The inspectorate previously provided psychological support services. The VID advises that individuals requiring gambling addiction support or crisis assistance should contact: the Gambling Addiction Support Helpline (29323202, daily 12:00–20:00); the Emotional Support Helpline 116123 (24/7); or the Addiction Support Helpline (67037333, daily 9:00–22:00, excluding public holidays).
