TITLE: Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Russian and Iranian Military-Industrial Complex Entities and Paralympians
BODY:
On March 15, 2026, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees enacting decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions on Russian and Iranian companies, individuals, and Paralympians supporting Russia's military aggression.
The sanctions package targeting the military-industrial complex includes 130 individuals and 48 legal entities. The targeted entities are involved in supplying components for Kometa-series satellite navigation equipment used in Russian drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, guided munitions, and aircraft deployed against Ukrainian cities. The package also includes enterprises involved in producing the Oreshnik missile system. Iranian companies and citizens involved in producing Iranian drones and missiles used against Ukraine and Gulf countries are included, alongside Iranian instructors who trained Russian "shahed" operators that conducted attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities. These entities facilitated Russia's launch, deployment, and scaling of "shahed" production in Russia.
Additionally, sanctions have been imposed on 10 Russian Paralympians who participated in Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. These individuals spread Russian propaganda and use sporting events as platforms to justify Russian crimes and occupation.
Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor–Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Sanctions Policy, stated that the Russian and Iranian military-industrial complexes maintain interconnected operations. He emphasised the need for the international community to strengthen efforts to break supply chains for critical components and counter this cooperation through synchronised sanctions.
